Bayview Cottage runs this website. This page explains what the site collects when you visit or get in touch, and what happens to it.
When you get in touch
If you use the booking form, you send us your name, email address, check-in and check-out dates, preferred room and number of guests, plus anything you write in the message. It comes to us by email so we can reply. Formspree delivers the form and keeps a copy of each message in its records. We use your details only to answer you and to look after your booking. We never sell them, and we never add you to a mailing list without asking.
If you email, text or call us instead, we use your details in the same way.
Visitor numbers
We count visits so we know which pages are useful. The counts come from Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn’t identify you. For each visit it records the page, the site you came from, your general location (country, region and city), and your type of device and browser. It tells one visitor from another with a code that is thrown away after 24 hours, so nothing links your visits over time. We only ever see the totals, and they’re kept for up to a year.
Cookies
This site doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies. The map on the home page comes from Google Maps, which may set its own cookies when it loads. The spam check on the booking form comes from Cloudflare Turnstile, which looks at your browser and connection to tell people from bots, and uses no cookies to do it. The site’s fonts come from Google Fonts, which sets no cookies.
Where the site runs
The site is hosted on Vercel by OBdesign, the Salt Spring and Victoria web studio that built it. Neither of us sells or shares your information.
